Emma Aken
Multimedia Journalist
Cleveland, Ohio

Emma Aken joined Cleveland 19 News as a reporter in September 2026. Emma is from Rochester, New York and graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in broadcast journalism.
Before coming to Cleveland, Emma was a reporter and weekend anchor at WRDE CoastTV News, covering Delaware’s coast for more than two years. There she reported on everything from beached whales and severe weather to development stories and community issues.
Her coverage on Delmarva included nor’easters and hurricanes, the worst blizzard and heat wave in Delaware in decades and the famous Chincoteague Pony Swim in Virgina. Emma is a certified drone pilot, and she frequently reported from the air in the station’s helicopter. She was honored to receive the Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association award for Best Multimedia Journalist in 2025.
When she’s not reporting, Emma enjoys exploring her new home in Northeast Ohio (and trying new restaurants and coffee spots), spending time with friends and family and traveling the world. She has been to 15 countries so far and studied abroad in Florence, Italy for a semester during college. Emma’s favorite trips include the Azores, Iceland and Lake Como.
Emma has loved storytelling for as long as she can remember. Long before she ever stepped into a professional newsroom, Emma anchored her middle school and high school morning announcements. She is excited to bring her passion for journalism to 19 News and looks forward to making a difference in the community.
