Sara Goldenberg is a Senior Investigative Reporter at 19 News. She joined the 19 News team in 2015. Her reporting has earned her several awards, including regional Emmy awards and a regional Edward R. Murrow award for a news documentary.

Her stories about PTSD and mental health in the first responder community have helped change city policy and raise awareness of the issue. Sara’s continued work to shine a light on cold cases has led investigators to pursue new leads in many cases that have remained unsolved for decades.

Sara produces and hosts two news series focused on finding answers for families. Her series Unidentified profiles local John and Jane Doe cases, many of them from decades ago. In Seeking Justice, she shines a light on unsolved cases, including homicides and missing persons. Sara also co-hosts the 19 Investigates true crime podcast Dark Side of the Land.

Sara got her start at KJCT in Grand Junction, Colorado and KJRH in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Before coming to 19 News, she was a reporter at KNXV in Phoenix, Arizona. She has reported on several national stories, including the deadly Joplin tornado in Missouri and the Yarnell Hill Fire that killed 19 hotshot firefighters in Arizona. Her dedication to watchdog journalism led to aggressive coverage of mismanagement and delayed care for veterans at the Phoenix VA. Her stories led eight U.S. Congress members to call for a new investigation into the hospital in 2015.

Sara grew up near Philadelphia and graduated from Ohio University's E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. She lives in northeast Ohio with her husband and two children. When she’s not reporting, Sara enjoys checking out Cleveland’s best restaurants, museums and parks and enjoys traveling with her family.
